Gypsum has been known as the “Moon Stone” in the ancient Greek and was used by Romans, Greek and Egyptians for making sculptures and pyramids. Pakistan is among the top 25 exporters of this useful mineral in the world. Pakistan’s total deposits of Gypsum are estimated to be between 5 and 6 billion tons. It is used to manufacture cement, plaster of Paris, wallboard chalk and as a fertilizer for soil conditioning.
